NPC Gift Guide (All Characters)

Updated for version 1.0 (Aug 2026)

Gifts are the fastest way to turn “villager you wave at” into “villager who shows up for your story.” Use the filterable table below before you dump rare finds into the shipping bin.

How friendship & gifts work

Community wiki mechanics (re-check after patches):

  1. Talk once per day for a small baseline gain (+7 friendship points).
  2. Gifts are the main spike — neutral / liked / loved all help; hated wastes the day.
  3. You can give each character 1 gift per day.
  4. Hearts/gems on the dialogue UI track level. Romance candidates use hearts.
  5. Heart events for candidates commonly sit around 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 (and higher when unlocked).
  6. Confession / dating choice becomes available around the 8-heart event for marriage candidates.
  7. Friendship points do not decay (unlike animal hearts).

Practical rules

  • Prefer Loved when you have them; otherwise Liked is fine.
  • Don’t gift quest-critical uniques or museum pieces you still need.
  • Keep a small Gift chest by the farm exit.
  • If you’re romancing someone, pair this page with Marriage Candidates.

Early efficiency tip

Pick two primary NPCs and one backup. Spreading one gift a day across the whole town feels friendly and does almost nothing.

Efficient gifting tips

  1. Gift on the path you already walk — don’t run a separate tour until mid game.
  2. Batch cook or forage on rainy days, then gift on busy shop days.
  3. Hold perfect gems / golden animal products for true loved targets.
  4. Don’t over-invest before you like the character.
  5. Pair gifts with talk every day you can.
  6. Tag gift stacks so they don’t get shipped by accident.
  7. If gifting starts killing your economy, fix cashflow first (Money Making).

Gifts to avoid

  • Anything in the Hated column for that NPC
  • One-of-a-kind quest items
  • Tools you still need
  • Seeds required for your active crop plan
  • Legendary fish / rare museum pieces until collections are done

Gifts build the bar; romance needs heart thresholds + events.
